Cecilia King
Registered Counsellor, Dance Movement Therapist,
AutPlay Therapy Provider and Clinical Supervisor
Cecilia is passionate about supporting children and adults to discover the steps and movement required to help build their resilience, somatic and emotional safety, cognitive flexibility, emotional intelligence, creativity and holistic wellbeing.
She has over 13 years of experience working therapeutically with children to adults with different abilities and diagnosis. Before becoming a therapist and counsellor, Cecilia worked creatively with children and adults as a dance & drama teacher, choreographer, theatre director, stage and festival manager. Her creative approach is not limited to the stage but sets the philosophy for her approach in life.
When working with individuals, Cecilia focuses on the development and growth of the person rather than the pathology.
When working with families, Cecilia focuses on the wellbeing of the family as a unit and could offer support to their wider network (including schools, childcare centres, other allied health professionals and other mainstream community engagements).
Cecilia previously also worked as a positive behaviour support practitioner and specialises in developing creative and trauma-informed behaviour strategies. She currently offers training in this area for early childhood educators, primary school teachers and parents to promote their understanding of the needs beyond behaviours.
